The Made in Japan edition of the All Star. It features natural-colored tape and cotton shoelaces, setting it apart from the standard Canvas All Star. The heel label is stamped with “MADE IN JAPAN” at the bottom, while the insole displays the Converse logo printed in red on white canvas. Comes in original carton box packaging.
Converse and Kurume
The connection between Converse and Kurume dates back to 1981, when Tsukihoshi Shoes (now MoonStar) signed an agreement with Converse in the United States to obtain the rights to manufacture and distribute the brand in Japan. Carrying on the techniques of the American-made All Star, which was produced to the highest quality standards, production of Japan-made All Stars began at the Kurume factory in the 1990s. Featuring resilient rubber, cotton shoelaces, durable canvas, and excellent cushioning, they evoked the look and quality of the All Star during its heyday as a basketball shoe. This legacy is precisely why today’s ALL STAR J, produced in Kurume, is distributed exclusively within Japan, even while it is coveted around the world.
